Chemical Ecology

We characterized the chemical composition of coyote urine in over 100 samples, opportunistically collected from dozens of individuals. Volatile organic compounds were extracted and analyzed using headspace gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Patterns in volatiles were described across variables like season, sex, and age. In addition, we analyzed commercial products marketed as coyote urine (both natural and synthetic).
